As a volunteer you will contribute to superior patient care in our community. The program standards are high – but if you would like to be considered, you are invited to attend our volunteer orientation. This is a required first step where you will get valuable information about our volunteer programs, the commitment you would be asked to make and the requirements for being place in one of our departments. We invite you to come and join us!
Below is a list of potential roles for our volunteers throughout the hospital.
Artist In Motion
Visit patient rooms with an activity cart containing art materials, origami, magazines and books, and games. Engage patients in a variety of activities to help them have a sense of belonging and spend some time in fun and challenging ways.
Share your musical talents with our patients and visitors in a variety of public settings throughout our campus. Individuals and groups are welcome.
General Clerical (Monday-Friday daytime hours only)
Assist various departments by answering telephones, helping with filing, copying, collating and data entry, as well as a wide variety of projects unique to each department as they occur.
Guest Services Ambassador / Concierges
Assist the patients and visitors to the hospital by helping meet their needs in a variety of ways. Deliver needed or requested items to patient rooms, such as newspapers, flower deliveries, and gifts. Greet visitors and provide directions as well as answer questions in our guest services area. Escort guests to their destination.
Happy Tails Pet Therapy
Bring the happiness only your dog can bring to patients in the hospital by joining the pet therapy team. Ideal dogs will be easy going and well mannered and enjoy meeting new people. Teams must go through temper testing and approval. Pet’s vaccination record and health status must be provided. Call us and we will gladly guide you to getting your dog certified as a therapy dog.
Nursing Unit Assistant
Assist nursing units in a variety of roles. Provide water to patients (watching for fluid restrictions), answer call lights, assist patients under supervision of nurses, put away supplies, visit patients and provide comfort and companionship through patient comfort rounding. Excellent role for those wanting to pursue a career in nursing or a patient medical career.
Come assist our fabulous dietary team and help keep the food coming! A lot goes on behind the scenes in a hospital and the cafeteria is no exception. The café team needs volunteers to greet customers, assist with silverware packing, pie cutting, and table clean ups to keep up with our fast paced cafeteria. Come join a great team who serves guests, patients, and employees.
Drive the hospital cart on grounds to assist visitors and patients. Provide directions to various departments. The perfect candidate must love to be outside and be a people person. Over 21 years of age only please with a valid driver’s license.
Do you love to stay busy? Are you passionate about customer service and teamwork? If you said yes then transport might be the volunteer role for you!. Our transportation team welcomes dedicated volunteers to their team who assist with patient flow throughout the entire hospital.
Emergency Department Patient Experience Ambassador
Greet patients and visitors to our Emergency room. Provide a friendly and welcoming smile. Work closely with triage nurse and concierge team member with patient’s needs or worsening condition. Provide comfort and act as an information liaison for patient and family. Entertain small children and provide diversion if needed. Direct and assist patients and visitors back to patient’s room when appropriate. (Proof of Hepatitis B series vaccinations needed and candidate is preferred to be 18 years of age or older).
Lab Team Assistant
This volunteer role is perfect for those interested in learning about the operational aspect of the hospital lab. Without the team in the lab receiving, sorting and processing lab samples, vital testing and diagnostics could not take place.
Imaging Team Assistant
This volunteer role is perfect for those interested in the radiology field. Assist the Seaside Imaging team, processing patients, burning films to disc, answering patient inquiries and assisting the patients in being comfortable throughout the procedure process. Ideal candidates for this role will be available during regular day time business hours and some evenings, have a passion for learning and excellent customer service.
Friendly and courteous service to customers. Re-stock merchandise, assist customer needs, and retail tasks. Deliver flowers to nursing units. Previous retail experience required.
Joint Replacment Center (Physical Therapy)
This volunteer role is perfect for those interested in the physical therapy field. Assist the PT team by transporting patients to the group exercise room. Also help maintain the comfort level of the patients by giving water and friendly companionship.
The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend an ORIENTATION SESSION. These 1.5 hour sessions are held from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, once a month. You will need to contact us at 407-303-4463 to find out the exact date of the upcoming sessions and reserve your seat. Each session is limited to the first 50 people who register.
Thing to Consider Before Volunteering:
- You must be at least 16 years of age. Parental consent will be required for anyone under age 18.
- You must volunteer for a minimum of 100 hours in a 6 month period of time.
- Background checks will be completed on all volunteers and interns. Court ordered community service is not permitted.
- Upon acceptance into our volunteer program, volunteers are sent for a drug screening and a TB test (paid for by Florida Hospital).
- Prospective volunteers must provide proof of vaccinations for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, and Chicken Pox. Volunteers that are not immune will be responsible for obtaining the necessary vaccinations prior to their start date.
- Following orientation you will schedule a personal interview at the campus. You will need to bring two (2) letters of recommendation with you to that interview.
Orientation sessions and interviews are held at the hospital located at 400 Celebration Place, Celebration Florida 34747. The Volunteer Orientation class is held once a month.
