Approximately 90% of all fractures in elderly women are caused by low bone density, which is known as osteoporosis. It is a common problem for women as they grow older, since the gradual loss of calcium causes the bones to become thinner and more fragile.

DEXA bone densitometry is designed to assess your risk of developing fractures. It is an extremely effective way to help you and your doctor at Florida Hospital Celebration Health develop a treatment plan for preventing fractures. DECA is also highly effective in tracking the effects of the treatment plan you adopt since it can also show improvements in bone density and thickness.

DEXA testing is recommended for women under the age of 65 who have higher than average risk factors and for all women over age 65.

Though our imaging technologies are high-tech, our approach to imaging is extremely laid back and stress free. Our imaging area takes you to the beach, complete with Adirondack chairs, beach cabanas that can be used as changing booths and surfer shorts and a terry robe instead of those dreaded hospital gowns. Why, you'll even hear the sound of the ocean and the smell of the fresh ocean breeze as you await your appointment.
