The Diabetes Institute at Florida Hospital Celebration Health provides state-of-the-art training and self-management education to people with diabetes and their families.
 
The comprehensive self-management program offers daytime, evening and weekend group classes in English and Spanish, and individual consultations in English and Spanish that explain diabetes, how to control it, ways to monitor blood glucose, nutrition counseling and weight management, insulin and medication instruction, and other diabetes-related issues.  This program, which utilizes a copyrighted curriculum and education manual, is taught by experienced registered nurses and dietitians nationally certified in diabetes education.  The interactive class format utilizes a variety of 3-D models and audio-visuals, individualized meal plan, individualized pharmacist counseling and post-course follow-up.
 
Other services available include:

• General diabetes education
• Gestational diabetes education
• Topic-specific individual diabetes counseling
• Individual nutrition consultation for impaired glucose tolerance, elevated lipids, reactive hypoglycemia, obesity and osteoporosis
• Insulin pump therapy education provided by an experienced RN and RD who are certified insulin pump trainers

Our program has been awarded recognition from the American Diabetes Association as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education programs, and the center is an approved Medicare provider for Diabetes education.  Roche Diagnostics is partnering with us in this area.
