A mammogram is the most common method of detecting a lump or tumor in your breast. This is particularly true if the density of tissue in your breast makes it difficult to conduct a thorough self-exam. Because these images are digitized from the beginning, you'll spend a lot less time being imaged, which translates into greater comfort for you. Digital mammography also uses far less radiation than conventional x-ray mammography.

Images can be enhanced and enlarged as needed without any loss of resolution or detail, something that was not possible with early mammogram technologies. Further, the images can easily be stored and shared electronically, reducing the time it takes for your doctor to get the images for analysis.
