Fertility

If you're having trouble starting a family, it could be caused by male infertility. Approximately half of all cases of infertility are related to problems with the male, including abnormal sperm production or function, impaired delivery of the sperm, lifestyle choices, general health or exposure to certain environmental factors.

At Florida Hospital Celebration Health, we look at all the issues that could be contributing to your male infertility. This includes working with you and your partner, since conditions in both of you could also be preventing conception.

In many cases, low sperm count is the problem. Although it takes just one sperm to fertilize the egg, the chances of that one sperm reaching the egg, let alone fertilizing it, are slim. As such, low numbers can translate into your partner's inability to get pregnant.

The good news is that most of the issues that cause male fertility issues can be corrected. Urologists and fertility specialists at Florida Hospital Celebration Health will discuss your situation in complete privacy and confidence. To address the issue, a battery of tests may be run, starting with a semen analysis test to see if low sperm count is a factor.

Depending on the nature of your infertility, specialists at the hospital may recommend several treatments, including variocele repair, hormone replacement, antiobotics for an infection (which may affect fertility), and other methods that may address specific lifestyle choices or environmental issues that are contributing to your fertility problems.
