Following are a few of the gynecology specialties at Florida Hospital Celebration Health:
Endometriosis is a fairly common condition where there is abnormal growth of uterine-lining tissue outside of the uterus. Most often, it can be found on the outside of the uterus itself, the fallopian tubes, ovaries or the pelvic lining. Left unchecked, endometriosis can lead to complications such as adhesions or the formation of scar tissue, bleeding, cyst formation or infertility.
At Florida Hospital Celebration Health our experts in women's health will monitor the condition and develop a treatment regimen that addresses the extent and nature of the endometriosis. Options include regular examinations for mild cases, pain management techniques to control any pain, hormonal therapy or minimally invasive surgery.
There can be many causes of pelvic pain, including gynecologic disorders, problem pregnancies or obstructions or improper function of the organs, including the reproductive system. Sometimes the cause is unknown, even though pain persists.
The pelvic pain experts at Florida Hospital Celebration Health are dedicated to finding the cause when possible. Many sources of the pain can be treated with pain management techniques, physical therapy or proper rest. If the pain is in the reproductive system, our team may discuss the possibility of a hysterectomy using minimally invasive surgery or a robotic hysterectomy, one of the latest innovations in surgery which has been pioneered right here at the Global Robotics Institute.

Fibroids in the uterus are benign tumors and are fairly common among women. Most do not cause symptoms and no treatment is required. However, fibroids can become an issue if there are symptoms - some fibroids can grow to the size of a melon if left unchecked.
If fibroids are detected, doctors at Florida Hospital Celebration Health will classify it in terms that mirror those of pregnancy. For example, a large fibroid may be classified as the equivalent of a six-month pregnancy.
When surgery is required, surgeons at Florida Hospital Celebration will use a minimally invasive technique called UFE to block the flow of blood to the fibroids. This deprives the fibroids of the nutrients and oxygen they need to grow so over time they will shrink in size. As they shrink, the symptoms will slowly dissipate. The advantage of this procedure is decreased menstrual bleeding, reduced pelvic pain and faster recovery, so you can enjoy a significantly improved quality of life.
Incontinence can be embarrassing, but it's important that you discuss the issue with your doctor at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. Urinary incontinence is not a disease but a symptom that something else may be going on in your body. It definitely is not just a sign that you're getting older.
There are many causes of urinary incontinence and it's important that your doctor be apprised of your situation so that proper tests can be performed to find the reason behind the incontinence. The type of treatment depends largely on the cause. Treatments can range from reducing your caffeine or alcohol intake to taking medication or undergoing surgery, if the incontinence is ongoing. Physical therapy or incontinence devices are also treatment options.
If you are experiencing incontinence, your doctor at Florida Hospital Celebration Health wants to discuss it with you. It's not something you need to learn to live with for the rest of your life. It can be effectively treated.
Early detection is critical when it comes to ovarian cancer, which ranks fifth in cancer deaths among women. Ovarian cancer causes usually normal ovarian cells to grow at an uncontrolled rate causing tumors to form in the ovaries.
At Florida Hospital Celebration Health our team of cancer experts is using the latest detection techniques to identify ovarian cancer in its earliest stages, when traditional indicators may not be evident. Understanding these symptoms can greatly improve outcomes since ovarian cancer is much easier to treat in its early stages.
In most cases, surgeons at Florida Hospital Celebration Health will recommend one of several procedures, depending on the nature of the cancer. If a hysterectomy is required, surgeons may recommend the use of our revolutionary new robotic surgery option. The Global Robotics Institute at Florida Hospital Celebration Health is a leader in performing robotic hysterectomy surgeries. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy are often employed to kill any remaining cancer cells.
When you have an injury, undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy or have cancer, you may end up forming a scar between two parts of the body that isn't normal. This is known as an adhesion and can often cause pelvic pain by restricting the natural movement of organs and tissues. If left unattended to, adhesions can cause severe clinical problems.
The Center for Abdominal and Pelvic Pain Syndrome (CAPPS) at Florida Hospital Celebration Health offers help for those suffering from adhesions and adhesion-related disorders. Working together, our team of clinicians, physical therapists, nutritionists, psychologists, exercise physiologists, social workers and care coordinators can help you overcome the physical barriers adhesions create that keep you from living live to its fullest.
