Nuclear Medicine

Nuclear medicine is a very safe procedure that uses very small amounts of radioactive material to diagnose and treat a number of diseases, including heart disease and cancer.

At Florida Hospital Celebration Health we use nuclear medicine to analyze kidney function, visualize heart blood flow and function, look at the lungs to identify possible respiratory or blood flow problems, evaluate bones for fractures, infection, arthritis or tumors, determine how much cancer has spread into the body, locate an infection or investigate brain abnormalities that could be triggering seizures or memory loss.

In some cases, nuclear medicine may be used in concert with other imaging strategies by doctors at Florida Hospital Celebration Health. For example, the nuclear medicine images can be superimposed onto CT scans or MRI results to provide more detailed information than is possible with one imaging technology alone.

Though our imaging technologies are high-tech, our approach to imaging is extremely laid back and stress free. Our imaging area takes you to the beach, complete with Adirondack chairs, beach cabanas that can be used as changing booths and surfer shorts and a terry robe instead of those dreaded hospital gowns. Why, you'll even hear the sound of the ocean and the smell of the fresh ocean breeze as you await your appointment.
