Testicular Cancer

Testicular cancer affects roughly 8,000 men annually in the United States. Over a man's lifetime, he has a 1 in 250 chance of being diagnosed with testicular cancer, which is most common in men between the ages of 15 and 40.

If testicular cancer is suspected, doctors at Florida Hospital Celebration Health will conduct a series of tests to determine the extent of the cancer. This may include a biopsy of the tissue as well as blood tests for tumor markers and a pelvic CT scan.

Depending on its stage, doctors will recommend one of three options or a combination of treatments to combat the cancer. This includes surgery to remove the testicle and nearby lymph nodes, radiation therapy and/or chemotherapy.

Thanks to the continual efforts to improve the outcome of testicular cancer by major medical centers worldwide, including Florida Hospital Celebration Health, the survivability rate is more than 90%. Even the relatively few cases where a malignant form of testicular cancer has spread widely, the cure rate is still above 85%.
